Lotus’s Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Lotus’s Malaysia) has joined hands with Cadbury Dairy Milk and the Food Aid Foundation in a cookout session to prepare and distribute over 500 servings of cooked meals at Lotus’s Cheras

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 (Bernama) — Lotus’s Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Lotus’s Malaysia) has joined hands with Cadbury Dairy Milk and the Food Aid Foundation in a cookout session to prepare and distribute over 500 servings of cooked meals at Lotus’s Cheras near here today.

Forty volunteers from all three parties prepared around 80 kg worth of ingredients comprising chicken, vegetables and rice in the session which was inspired by Lotus’s Ramadan cookout held in April this year by Lotus’s Malaysia and the Food Aid Foundation.

The meals were then distributed to individuals staying at low-cost housing areas and welfare homes around Kuala Lumpur, namely Indah Mas Apartment, Sri Melaka flats, PJ Caring Home, Sunbeam Foundation, Al-Fikrah Malaysia Care Centre and the Homeless Transit Centre.\

“We understand that many are feeling the pinch of inflation and have become extra cautious with their spending to cope with the increased cost of living.

“The cookout is one of the small ways as responsible corporate citizens to bring some delight into the people’s lives and help reduce the burden felt by many B40 families and the homeless.” she said.

Meanwhile, Cadbury Dairy Milk senior marketing manager (Chocolates) Ng Boon Siew said that the cookout programme was aimed at giving back to the community and building on the brand’s objectives while amplifying and inspiring generosity among Malaysians.

Food Aid Foundation chief executive officer Dr Dalphine Ong said that the cookout’s menu was specifically designed to meet the nutritional needs of recipients as they have limited means to consume a nutrient-rich meal every day.

To realise this initiative, Cadbury Dairy Milk through its #CadburyHuggingBar campaign introduced a series of specially designed 160-gram chocolate bars that are available in Lotus’s stores in support of their initiative to spread goodness and joy.

For every two Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate products purchased by customers throughout all Lotus’s stores, 50 sen will be channelled towards Food Aid Foundation.

Besides that, 100 care packs worth RM100 each filled with essential grocery items including rice, cooking oil, flour and cream crackers were distributed to Food Aid Foundation’s beneficiaries who are trying to make ends meet with the rising cost of goods.
